One Nigeria: IYA Asks Gov Wike to Rebuild Port Harcourt Central Mosque
The apex socio-cultural youth organization in Igboland, Igbo Youth Assembly(IYA), Worldwide, has asked the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, to rebuild the Central Mosque which he demolished few days ago.

Igbo Youth Assembly has the cardinal objective for advocacy and propagation of national unity and peaceful co-existence among Nigerians.
The body who made this call recently while chatting with our reporter through their President-General and Secretary-General, Ifeanyi Nwaudunna and Casmir Nnadozie Irekamba, appealed to Governor Nyesom Wike “to rebuild the Port Harcourt Central Mosque that was demolished by his government last week.
Igbo Youth Assembly Worldwide maintains that the demolition of the Mosque at Trans-Amadi Area of Port Harcourt is a threat to the unity and peaceful co-existence among Christian and Muslim Communities in River State.
IYA Worldwide wishes to remind the government of River State that the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria allows freedom of worship, religion and association and permits any citizen of Nigeria to live any where in the country provided he is peaceful and law-abiding”.
They regretted that “the demolition of the Mosque has caused untold hardship and stress to the Muslim Community in River State. This act of demolishing a holy ground of worship could lead to anarchy because it is a threat to unity, peace and harmony that the Christian and Muslim Communities have enjoyed over time in River State. The leadership of Igbo Youth Assembly Worldwide has received a lot of calls and complaints from its numerous members especially the Muslim faithfuls in the state to register their displeasure and dissatisfaction over the ugly incident”.
Nwaudunna and Irekamba added that “Igbo Youth Assembly Worldwide urges Governor Wike to respect the fundamental human rights of Muslim faithfuls in River state. We appreciate the maturity and patience demonstrated by the Muslim Community in the State over the ugly incident.
For the interest of unity, peace, harmony and co-operation among the Muslim and Christian faithful, Igbo Youth Assembly Worldwide appeals to Governor Wike to rebuild the Mosque immediately or allocate another conducive place to the Muslim Community in the State or rebuild the demolished one.
IYA admonishes the citizens and residents of River State whether Christian or Muslim to obey the laws and rules of the State.
“Also we sue for peace among Christian and Muslim faithfuls in the State. Truly, your peace is my peace. One nation and unity in diversity”, IYA maintained.
