Imo Police Command Parades Suspects, Vows to Curb Crime in the State.
The Imo State Police Command says it will continue to expand the frontiers of police/community partnership through strategic communication and relationship that will stimulate its mandate of ensuring an effective management of crime and other forms of criminality in the state.
The Commissioner of police in the state, Mr. Chris Ezike stated this at the Police Headquarters Owerri when the command paraded arrested suspected notorious kidnappers, armed robbers and cultists.
Mr Ezike disclosed that recoveries were also made during the operations while some of the victims of kidnapping have regained their freedom and re-united with their families.
He attributed the successes recorded to the effectiveness of its whistle blowing policy which encourages citizens/residents of Imo to expose impunity/ criminality and other vices and renewed partnership with all segments of the Imo Community, commitment and renewed zeal of the Imo State Police Command as well as the support from the State government.
The Commissioner of Police promised to sustain the momentum, in addition to vetting and profiling of communities/organizations/ Hotels that had shown uncommon notoriety in the provision of safe haven’s/passage for armed bandits/ kidnappers with a view to holding their owners accountable for the acts or omissions.
He said the Command would encourage the newly formed Anti-Cultism Unit of the Command to enable it deal decisively with cult related activities as it has proven to be the feeding ground of armed robbers/kidnappers and other vicious criminals.
Mr Ezike also urged Imo citizens not to relent in being responsible and patriotic.
Items recovered from the three suspected student of Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) who were arrested for armed robbery and cultism, Igboerika Ifeanyi Paul 23years, Obodo John Ifeanyi also 23 years old and 19 years old Agumadu Tochukwu, include a stolen laptop, charger and extension wire, twenty SIN cards of different networks, two hammers, four black axe and Aye confraternity caps.
Over forty suspects were paraded by the Imo State Police command.
