Federal Poly Nekede 20th Convocation Held Amidst Jubilation

The long awaited 20th convocation Ceremony of Federal Polytechnic Nekede has come and gone, but not without depositing an indelible mark as usual in the polytechnic community.
The event which kick-started on December, 1 2019 with a Pre-Convocation Service, followed by Smart Campus Launching on 3rd December and Convocation Lecture at the school’s 1000 capacity witnessed the presence of top dignitaries within and outside the country and lots of inspirational and didactic information.
However, the ocassion reached its conclusion on the 5th of December where the Executive Governor of Imo state, Rt Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, alongside Ministers, Commissioners and host of other prominent Nigerians availed themselves in the school’s stadium to be part of the 2019 Convocation ceremony.
Governor Ihedioha in his speech commended the management and staff of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri for their continued efforts of inparting in the students while describing the rector, Engr. Michael Arimanwa as an “IGR” meaning ‘Internally Generated Rector’, owing to the fact that the rector was a hardworking student of the institution and encouraged them to not relent in their duty.
He urged the newly graduated students to be well behaved in oder to be good ambassadors of the institution as to contribute positively to the society..
The Governor expressed delight over the warmt reception given him by the Rector, management, staff and students of the polytechnic.


In his remarks, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Michael Arimanwa, thanked the Governor for gracing the ocassion, and for the ongoing massive construction of the Naze/Poly Nekede/Ihiagwa/Obinze road, noting that Governor Ihedioha meant well and was the first governor of the state to honour their invitation.
Engr. Micheal Arimanwa, who presided over the event alongside the school orator, Dr. Nnamdi Anumihe pin pointed several areas that the istitution has contributed to the country’s growth through sound teaching and condusive learning environment.
Arimanwa who appreciated the works of his predicessor, Prof Celestine Njoku who introduced six new departments, namely; Food technology, Hospitality Management, Agric Technology, Mechatronics, Taxation and Pharmaceutical technology, promised to bring more departments into the Institution.
He added that the institution will among notable projects and policies focus on gender mainstreaming, stressing that “the institution will make sure that there are no disparities in gender, be you male or female, you will be admitted to any department of your choice and let it not be heard that some disciplines are exclusive to certain gender”.


Engr. Arimnwa praised the past and present graduands for their exploits describing them as hardworking entrepreneural graduands with great talents that make growth inevitable, while thanking security operatives for a peaceful vicinity and network.
The ceremony had the presence of the representatives of the Honourable Minister for Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, and the Visitor to the Polytechnic, President Muhammadu Buhari.
