POEM: Madness By Nwosu Prayerlife, A Painful Reality of Today ||| NEWS CORNER
One would be certainly surprised at the rocket speed how things change in the negative these days where it ought to have been the better part of living; being in the 21st Century where civilization should have taken over unfiltered thoughts of the stone-age as regards the many ways of life, lifestyle as well as means of earning a living.
As unspeakable as it appears on a daily, Nwosu Prayerlife, one of many enthusiastic poets for a better society Xrays how deep the “madness” and cankerworm of the day has eaten into the fabrics of not just the Nigerian and African society but the globe as it affects them in entirety.
Do yourself a favour by reading through to assess the level of madness in today’s society to find a way forward out of the situation.
MADNESS
Our moon has suddenly gone shy
And our sun has gone cold
The strolling cloud has become stiff
Youth have suddenly gone insane!
They have traded their hen for a rotten egg
And have sold their destinies for wooden spoons
They have invaded the dark chambers of demons
What is the fate of our tomorrow?
Please take me back to the eighties
Days we feared the wrath of the gods
Over the drop of a brother’s blood
And fought so hard to save our sisters.
Oh youth of the 21st century!
Why have you made a deal the devil?
Operating in the sunny broad day
The fear of karma is 2% left
Dark days of rituals and voodooism
Teens have gone mad over failed deals
The earth has consumed more young than old
Littered souls of ritual victims cry.
On who should we put our trust?
When chicks have chosen feathers over hens
Since the crocodile has eaten it’s own egg
What will it not do with the egg of a lizard?
Idle minds craving for wealth
For stagnant power and dark fame
Hit it fast and live large
Money ritual has been nicknamed yahoo.
Why deep your hands into the devil’s mail box?
A mail of dirge from the throne of doom
Whose wealth doesn’t last for long
Why sale your soul for blink of wealth?
