Federal Polytechnic Nekede Academic Board Elects Dr. Juliana Njoku as Deputy Rector (Administration)-Designate
The Academic Board of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, has elected Dr. Juliana Njoku as Deputy Rector (Administration)-Designate following her nomination by the Rector, Dr. Mrs. Basilia Nkemdilim Igbokwe.
The election was conducted during the Board’s statutory meeting held on June 27, 2026, and remains subject to ratification by the institution’s 15th Governing Council in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Polytechnics (Amendment) Act, 2019.
Announcing the development, the Rector described the nomination and subsequent election as a reflection of the Polytechnic’s commitment to merit, competence, integrity and dedicated service.

Dr. Juliana Njoku
According to her, Dr. Njoku has distinguished herself over the years as a committed academic, accomplished administrator and dependable institutional leader whose contributions have positively impacted the growth and stability of the Polytechnic.
The Rector further noted that Dr. Njoku’s academic qualifications, extensive administrative experience, professional accomplishments and commitment to excellence make her eminently qualified for the position.
She added that the election demonstrates the administration’s commitment to inclusive leadership, equal opportunity and gender balance, with appointments driven by competence, proven capacity and dedication to institutional advancement.
Dr. Njoku, a renowned Clinical Psychologist and Chief Lecturer, has held several key positions within the Polytechnic, including Director of SERVICOM, Director of the Centre for Gender Studies and member of the Academic Board, and currently serves as Director of the Evening Programme.
Throughout her years of service, she has earned recognition for her administrative ability, professionalism and commitment to institutional development.
Dr. Njoku, has authored numerous scholarly publications, participated actively in national and international conferences and is a member of several professional associations, reflecting her commitment to academic excellence and continuous professional development.
Members of the Polytechnic community have welcomed the development, describing Dr. Njoku’s emergence as a recognition of years of dedicated service, administrative competence and professional excellence.
Staff, students and other stakeholders expressed confidence in her ability to support the administration in advancing the institution’s developmental objectives and strengthening administrative efficiency, staff relations, students’ welfare and service delivery across the Polytechnic.

As the Polytechnic awaits ratification of the election by the 15th Governing Council, stakeholders have expressed optimism that Dr. Njoku’s experience, sound judgment and leadership qualities will further strengthen the administration of the institution in her new role as Deputy Rector (Administration).
