Chairman Guild Of Newspapers Reporters, Charges Guber Candidates On Issues Based Campaign ||| NEWS CORNER
All the Imo State Governorship Candidates in November 11th Governorship Election have been admonished to shun campaign of calumny and follow the the path of an issue- based campaign.
The admonition was contained in a release signed by the Chairman; Guild of Newspapers Reporters, Imo State Chapter, Evangelist Chuks Nwokeji and made available to newsmen in Owerri.
Evangelist Nwokeji in the release passionately appealed to all the governorship candidates to display deep knowledge and understanding of the numerous challenges facing the state with clear-cut agenda for perfect solution for the betterment of the people.
He noted that Imo State has existential challenges, it needs sound education system, vibrant economy, adequate, security of lives and property, above all quality dividends of democracy that will truly transform lives and bring meaningful development to all senatorial zones of state.
The release reads, “issue-based campaigns cannot be waved aside because of softness of political actors on ideological divisions, with the kind of campaign carried out in this part of the globe, it is easy for campaign rhetorics to drift into personal abuse, slander and overcharged verbal attacks, the media will not hesitate to expose and disgrace any governorship candidate with gutter language capable of dividing and destroying the state.
When a governorship candidate leaves reality and begins to pursue shadows, by throwing tantrums on opponents, it shows he has nothing to offer, campaign is not all about insult, is all about insightful messages and promises on better offers you have that can motive the masses to drum maximum support for you’
According to the release, absence of issue-based campaign exposes the porous mentality of a candidate as one who has nothing to offer for good governance, the governorship candidates should exhibit ideological polarities that offers contrasting perspectives on governance during their campaign to prove their preparedness”
The Chairman Guild of Newspaper Reporters Imo State Chapter, stated in clear terms that there is no alternative to an Issue-based campaign, as it is a remedy for horrible use of language that can ‘heat up the polity and endanger political stability.
Evangelist Nwokeji who made it clear to all the
governorship candidate that there is Imo State before election and there will still be Imo State after election, called on all the governorship candidates and their supporters to consider peace, unity and progress of the state in their campaign tour and messages to the electorate,
