100 Days In Office: Imo NUJ Congratulates Uzodinma …commends him for reviving Imo Newspaper
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Imo State Council has congratulated Gov.Hope Uzodinma of Imo State on his 100 days in office.
In a release signed by the Chairman of the Council, Chief Chris Akaraonye, on Thursday in Owerri, the union said the governor did well in repositioning the public service, including the local government administration in the state.
Chief Akaraonye also commended the governor on the steps so far taken to rehabilitate some of the major roads in the state and urged him to expedite actions to complete them before the rains comes.
“The union is happy over the governor’s proactive actions in fighting the deadly coronavirus called COVID-19. We urge him not to relent in making sure that Imo citizens are protected from the disease,” he said.
He called on Imo citizens to cooperate with the government and the committee on COVID -19 by adhering strictly to the commitees instructions.
The chairman called on the government to extend the palliative materials to journalists in the state whom he described as the major front runners in the fight against the pandemic.
He said the journalists risk their lives while making sure that the citizens got the information they required on the coronavirus pandemic regretting however that they were left out in the sharing of the palliative materials.
Chief Akaraonye, therefore, called on the government and other well meaning Imo people to come to the aid of the journalists in the state.
He further thanked Gov. Uzodinma for reviving the state newspaper “The Statesman” which he said, is one of the main mouthpiece of the state government.
“The union will remain grateful to the governor for ensuring that The Statesman comes out daily again on the news stand,” he said.
Chief Akaraonye, therefore, pledged the unions continued support to the Uzodinma led administration.
