MUST READ: Open Letter to All Mothers, Couples by Immaculata Anoruo
On issues bordering on the general well-being of the family which is the nucleus of the society that when things fall off and out of the family, it generally affects the general public, a enthusiast of a better society who believes in rewriting the narratives for posterity, Immaculata Anoruo writes mothers to do the needful at all times in families.

This is because mothers are known for home building right from creation but in recent times, what have the mothers done well or not too good?
READ FULL LETTER:
Dear Obinwa,
If you’re reading this piece, then it means that your mail was well received.
I know you found it embarrassing that your daughter Nwabuaku had to travel all the way from Kaduna to Owerri just to tell me about her first sex experience.
“She should have kept it to herself than give me the impression that you didn’t bring her up properly”… your thoughts exactly when you learnt that I’m now in the know that her hymen has been broken and her juice tasted.
Nwa, bringing up a child is a lifestyle not a duty.
Nwabuaku is 21, grown and beautiful and there’s no better time to have sex.
She could have done it at 13 or 15 as girls of nowadays do, but for your threats.
I was the one who taught your daughter how to wear a sanitary pad for the first time at 15. She had her first kiss at 17 with the young vendor that delivers newspapers to your house every morning, and when she had her breasts fondled for the first time by your Colleague’s son Ihebundu, at 18, I knew.
I didn’t know because I monitored her, I knew because she told me.
You were only concerned about her grades at school.
I also know that in February last year, she met and fell in love for the first time with Enyiuche, the young man that harvested her honey exactly two weeks ago.
Dear Friend, from everything your daughter told me, I can say with my full chest that she had one of the sweetest and most amazing first time sex…not that ‘wait-and-take’ action you had with Edmund in our final year at IMSU…remember I always warned you against boys who prefer their Christian names to their native names, their manhood do not always stand the test of the hood.
Your daughter can’t talk to you about sex, she’s shy and sure that you would judge her.
You didn’t do an awful job in her upbringing rather, you misplaced the confidence and trust you should have established between both of you as early as when she was 5.
I spoke with Enyiuche, her boyfriend over the phone and they have both promised to continue using protection as I have advised.
I think they are going to have a marathon when she returns to Kaduna on Thursday.
Take it up from here.
Yours in love,
Smart’sDiary
