To boost the economy and livelihood, Member representing Owerri North State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Kelechi Ofurum, has stressed on renewable/sustainable energy in Imo State.

The lawmaker reflected that the legislature is working solidly and cordially with the executive to enhance the supply of electricity in all the communities in Imo State with the purpose of promoting industries, commerce and trade, hence strengthening the economy and livelihood.

Ofurum, who spoke to journalists in Owerri on Wednesday during the celebration of World Energy Day organized by Imo State Electricity Regulatory Commission (ISERC), praised Hope Uzodimma for working in unison with the state legislators to strengthen renewable energy in the state to advance development and economic growth.

Ofurum, who is the Deputy Chief Whip and House Committee  Chairman on Rural Electricity, expressed satisfaction with what ISERC does in terms of working effectively with policy makers and  stakeholders in the Energy Sector to ensure that adequate Energy or Power is generated and distributed across the state.

“Supply of electricity has progressed in Imo State. The speed with which His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma and the executive, who are working under him, are moving to improve energy is commendable. We are also working optimally to ensure that communities who are battling with electricity issues start enjoying power as we did in some parts of Ngor-Okpala LGA. We are actually making huge progress and we appreciate what the Imo State Electricity Regulatory Commission is doing in the aspect of renewable energy in the state.

“Imo State House of Assembly will always support every positive move that will always strengthen productivity, development, peace and progress in the state”, Ofurum said.
