Tricycles, Buses banned in Owerri except TAXIMO -Govt directs

The Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha has directed that with effect from tomorrow- 12th October, 2017 all operations and operators of tricycles, old municipal taxi cabs, small and big buses, should cease to operate  on some designated roads and only branded “Taximo” vehicles will be allowed to operate on them.

Press Release of the Ban taking effect from 12th Oct 2017

A release by the Government Liaison officer, Prince Lasbery Okafo Anyanwu states the roads as:

  • Bank Road Owerri -from Control Roundabout to Government House Roundabout,
  • Orlu Road – from Warehouse Roundabout to Akwakuma Roundabout,
  • Wetheral road – from Government House Roundabout to Emmanuel College Roundabout,
  • Okigwe road – from Government House Roundabout to Hardel Junction and
  • Spibat road – from Orlu road flyover bridge to Okigwe road flyover bridge by Glass House.

The release enjoins all concerned to adhere to these directives.
