Timber Market In Fresh Mess …As Main Contractor Shuns Egbu-Naze Road Project
Following the recent abandonment of the road project on Egbu-Naze road where the popular Timber market (Ogbosisi) is located alongside a good number of big Industries, the commercial activities would not seize to suffer many more losses and damages.
The main contractor handling the road project has been reported to again, abandon the project to the detriment of the traders, industrialists and inhabitants in the area.
Investigations have revealed that in December, last year, the main contractor for the road project was given some funds by the state government to do a ‘0-50’ level construction for the purposes of remedying the situation, but due to neglect and abandonment on the side of this main contractor, the situation has remained unbearable.
It should be recalled that some time ago, the same contractor had abandoned her work equipment as well as the road project proper, which was reported to halt the economic activities in the Ogbosisi area.
The construction firm has been reported to show no iota of seriousness over the deterioration of the road given her widely observed deliberate neglect of such sensitive duties.
The traders and industrialists in the Ogbosisi area have been said to groan daily over increasing loss of millions of Naira added to their growing fears that if nothing is done at this period of dry season, the road would be completely cut off at the rainy season.
Sources have expressed concerns that the main contractor of the road project has not been sanctioned for one day for his continuously embarrassing failure to deliver to the tone of the 3-R mantra of the government of Senator Hope Uzodimma.
It should also be recalled that sometime ago,the Industrialists in the area had resorted to ‘self help’ as alternative measures, but as at yesterday, before the press time, the situation of road had become worse than can be described.
