Rochas Okorocha wins Orlu Senatorial Seat

The outgoing governor of Imo state, Owelle Rochas Okorocha who ran for Imo West Senatorial seat has been declared the winner of the election.

According to the INEC Collation Officer, Francis Ibeawuchi, Okorocha garnered 97,762 to thrash his closest rival of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Jones Onyereri who got 68,117 as well as that of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, with 30, 923 to come third position

Earlier, there were rumour and reports making rounds that the Governor was forcing the INEC personnel to do his bidding and declare him the winner.

It was gathered that Honourable Onyereri of the PDP has raised the alarm that the returning officer, Ibeawuchi was forced to declare Okorocha winner.

He said “I’m here to alert the whole world, about what’s happening in Imo West Senatorial district, just about few minutes ago, Governor Okorocha in company with security agencies invaded the senatorial collection center in Orlu and held the returning officer Professor Francis Ibeawuchi hostage, threatening his life to declare an illegal results”.

Hon Jones continued ” I Found it very unholy because as at 1:30am yesterday, after the collation Officer has carefully accessed all the results that were given to him he disclosed that he’ll not continue with the announcement of the results and that the election is cancelled and that he would proceed back to Owerri after the Resident Electoral Commissioner approved of it”.

The Federal lawmaker said he is saddened that after the directives of the Imo REC for Professor Ibeawuchi to come over to Owerri, nothing happened rather the E.O. was held hostage by APC agents from yesterday (02-25-19) till dawn.

He added ” The forced him to go ahead to announce the result”
