Profile of the Founder of Uju Charity And Empowerment Initiative, UCEI Emerges
Hon. Ambassador Chika Uju, the founder of Uju Charity and Empowerment Initiative is a holistically simple and a well loaded personality; full of potentials, expectations and as well unassuming to point out ills in society hence her unrelenting call to serve humanity in all her private and public engagements.
The track record of Hon, Mrs Chika Uju, squarely depicts resilience, doggedness and determination to live her imprints in the sands of time as she intentionally acts, works hard to better situations, environment as well as relationships than she met them. In her, an Amazon, a true friendship and beacon of hope is known.
Chika was born into the notable family of Late shepherd father (Mr) Joseph Achugo and shepherd mother Late Agnes Ogo Achugo Onumajuru of Umori Eziachi in Orlu LGA of Imo State about fifty nine(59) years ago. She got married at a tender age to Late Mr Lasbury Ogu Uju; one of the sons of Late Nze Daniel Uju Okwaraosa and wife Late Lolo Uwaku Uju Okwaraosa of the legendary Uju family of Nkwerre Ancient Kingdom in Nkwerre Local government area of Imo State.

Chika’s marriage to Late Mr Lasbury is blessed with five impressionable children who are now all graduates and making progress in their different endeavors. It is sad to recall that Chika lost her dear husband in 1992 and the burden to raise the kids squarely rested on her shoulders. Like a Christian soldier she marched on undaunted and with God on her side she raised and nurtured the children to adulthood who in turn now have grandchildren for her.
Apart from seeing her children through tertiary education, Chika equally pursued the golden fleece and this metamorphosed into her obtaining a B.Sc and M.Sc degrees respectively from the Imo State University, Owerri, Imo State.
Chika is a lady of many parts, for her, there is no dull moment. She is an activist, community leader, journalist, a philanthropist and politician. She ventured to represent Nkwerre State constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly with her popular slogan” Ka Nwanyi Gatukwanu”. Unfortunately high political intrigues truncated this sincere dream to serve humanity.

Above all, Chika has a golden heart. She worked hard to overcome her challenging circumstances. She has a passion to lift up people, a trait and character fired more by what she inherited from her philanthropic nuclear family and husband’s family respectively capped with the public spirited nature of her Late husband and in order to sustain and further actualize this passion, she decided to found Uju Charity and Empowerment Initiative with the sole objective of giving hope to the hopeless, by providing scholarships, support and Empowerment to the needy.
Chika has been honored by many esteemed organisations with titles as Ambassador of peace, Golden lady, Odenka, Service Excellence Award by Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Imo State council and she is also a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.
All people of Goodwill and Godly people are enjoined to support this Noble course of Uju Charity and Empowerment Initiative by donating handsomely to this divine assignment.
