POEM: Read “My Aunty My Pain” By Williams Etumnu, To Know What Men Suffer Silently Too
This is a master expository of the hidden, unseen sufferings, pains, humiliation and harassment that male folks go through on daily basis especially from childhood.
It starts from Childhood but does not end there as it also consumes the energetic, mature, young and aged men and the worst part is that the world shuts their ears to alarms of these pains, thinking it is a situation peculiar to the female forks alone.
My Aunty My Pain
We used to call her
Aunty elegance
Back then in JSS 2
A beauty in darkness
And no one knows
I was picked for extra morals
Oh, the brainy she fancied
Privileged I thought
Hmmm!Hers, only for the ride
But how could I have known
The plan in my innocent heart
When beauty is hidden in darkness?
Aunty NO! Don’t do this!
I’m still a boyYet she pressed
Deaf and deaf she acted
You’re no boy
She roughly handled my untouched groin
Be calm you’ll enjoy
I struggled to wriggle out
As many times I tried
As many times overpowered
Facing the strength of Hulk Hogan
Oh, it wasn’t easy, my strength failed
Aunty why?
As I cried
She pounced
Up and down
The weight I couldn’t carry
My teenage age
Painted with scars
Will anyone ever believe
I have been raped by aunty Elegance
The one everyone admires.

| This piece is a fiction tied around what is happening in our society today. The boy child also faces the risk of rape. When I was still a child far back in the north a full blown woman who was yet to get married usually harass me sexually. Many other boy child suffer this too. We should not be carried away that only the girl child face the risk of rape the boy child equally faces same risk. |
