Palliative: Imo Govt Rolls Out Template For Phase One Distribution

In line with the federal government’s initiative to cushion the effects of fuel Subsidy removal, the State Government Committee on Distribution of Palliative headed by the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Cosmas Iwu has mapped out the sharing template of the consolation items for phase one.
According to the template released by the committee, 65,000 bags of rice will be distributed in the first phase.
The committee however noted the membership to include Honorable Commissioners, the Head of Service, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN) the Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress(NLC), the Special Adviser on Labour Matters, and other critical stakeholders, adding that the whole idea is to ensure that this food items gets to the commonest man-on-the-street.
The Government have also included the security agencies into the committee so that they will be in a position to arrest any man or woman who want to abuse the process, while separating the formal and informal sectors.
The government added that it will take seriously any report of political partisanship.
THE TEMPLATE
1. The civil servants will receive their rice at the State Secretariat and have to pass through their nominal roll of their various Ministries to sign for the rice.
2. The secondary school teachers will be coordinated through the Secondary Education Management Board (SEMB). Every secondary school teacher who is teaching will receive his or her own rice.
3. The primary school teachers will receive theirs from the Imo State Universal Basic Education Board(IMSUBEB). The IMSUBEB with their nominal roll will ensure that every primary school teacher gets their rice.
4. The traders in the markets will receive their rice through their associations and these associations and their leadership will ensure that all the known traders in our markets will receive their own.
5. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) under the leadership of the State Chairman will receive their rice to ensure it gets to their churches.
6. The Traditional Rulers will receive their rice through their Council, chaired by the State Chairman, Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers.
7. The town unions will receive their own through the president generals and their secretaries.
8. The government liaison officers (GLOs) will receive theirs through their coordinators.
9. The Federal Government parastatals in Imo State namely – the News Agency of Nigeria, NTA, Radio Nigeria, INEC office in Owerri, and Nigerian Labour Congress through their leadership.
10. Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Imo State, through their leadership.
11. Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) through their leadership.
12. The Government House Press Crew.
13. The Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers and Nigeria Union of Teachers. They will all receive theirs through their leadership.
14. The personnel of the army, airforce, navy, police, civil defence, correctional services, FRSC, NDLEA, Immigration, DSS, and Customs, through their leadership.
15. Hausa community through their Sariki and leadership.
16. Yoruba community through their leadership.
17. Other groups and Special Citizens through their leadership.
18. Local Government Officers through their various local government areas.
19. Sole administrators and their aides, and the development centres.
20. National Council of Women Society.
21. Red Cross.
22. Destitute Homes
23. Orphanages in Imo State.
24. Imo Broadcasting Corporation.
25. Education Development Centre.
26. Heartland Football Club.
27. Imo State Sports Commission and the players – both men and women.
28. Imo State Legislature through the Speaker’s office and principal officers.
29. PASAN, Legislative staff workers.
30. Appointees of the Government through the Secretary to the Government of Imo State.
The informal sector.
31. Every polling unit will receive 10 bags of rice. (Sharing not based on any political party affiliation). Belongs to everybody registered in that polling unit.
32. Hospitals – Imo State University Teaching Hospital, Specialist Hospital, the Nursing Schools in Orlu, Aboh Mbaise, Amaigbo, Emekuku, Umulolo, Awommama.
State Universities and Tertiary Institutions.
33. K.O Mbadiwe University, Imo State University, University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, College of Education, Ihitte Uboma, Imo State Polytechnic, Omuma, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Alvan Ikoku University College of Education, Federal College of Land Resources, Federal University Teaching Hospital.
Judiciary Worker’s
34. Appeal Court, Owerri.
Federal High Court, Owerri, Industrial Court, Owerri, Imo State High Court, Customary Court of Appeal, Customary Court, Magistrate Court and judicial workers.
