NUJ Imo state Council Calls on Nigeria Customs to Review Policies.
An appeal has gone to the Nigerian Customs Service to carefully review the policy concerning duties paid on imported items and other good classified as contrabands to cushion the effects on the economy and minimize the impact of the recession.

The Chairman , Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Imo State Council, Sir Innocent Igwe, who made the appeal when the State Executive of the Union paid a courtesy call on the new Comptroller of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) Federal Operations Unit “Zone C” Owerri, Mr. Amajam Bukar Alhaji, said although Nigeria should be producing most of the items that were imported, the economic diversification and recovery measures should be progressively applied to minimize their excruciating pains on the masses.
Sir Innocent assured him of continued robust relationship between the Press and the Nigerian Customs Service for their effective operation in the state.
He congratulated the Customs Service for its enormous contribution towards enhancing the revenue profile of the country and reminded the comptroller of the need to always liaise with the council and accredit Journalists for effective coverage of their activities.
Responding, Mr. Amajam Buka Alhaji stated his resolve to work in synergy with the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Imo State Council to ensure efficiency of its operations and sustain the cordial relationship between the Customs and the journalists.
He commended the leadership of NUJ in Imo State for the good examples it has shown and extolled the role of the union in the effective dissemination of information which has contributed to the development of the country and enhanced democracy.
