NUJ extols DSS for improved relationship with journalists ||| NEWS CORNER
The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has passed a vote of confidence in the Director-General of the Department of State Services, citing improved relations with the media and a noticeable decline in intimidation, harassment, and arbitrary arrests of journalists.
In a communique issued after the NEC meeting held in Abuja, NUJ urged the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to emulate the DSS, stressing that both the media and security institutions share a common responsibility in advancing national interest and peace.

On insecurity, NEC called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to take decisive steps to address the rising wave of attacks and killings across the country.

It emphasized the need for a review of current security strategies and cautioned against politicizing security challenges in the country.

The chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists Imo State Council, Comrade Ifeanyi Nwanguma JP has equally applauded the National president of the Union, Comrade Alhassan Yahya for his commitment in furthering the ideals of the profession.
“The relational link the president is creating with other stakeholders is worthy of emulation.”
