NBAWF pays courtesy visit to Imo Deputy Governor …advocates for women lawyers welfare

Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum NBAWF Imo state chapter has pledged their unalloyed support to the office of the Imo state deputy governor, Dr. Mrs Chinyere Ihuoma Ekomaru to promote sustainable development and advance the welfare of female lawyers in the state.
This was made known during a courtesy visit of the Association led by the state lead, Mrs Chetachi Success Udeh, Esq to the Deputy governor in her office.
The leader of the Delegation, Mrs Udeh expressed delight over the appointment of a female Deputy governor which is in-line with gender equality advocacy and applauded the Deputy Governor her recent academic laurel of a Doctorate in philosophy from the prestigious university of Nigeria Nsukka.

The state lead while presenting her address said, the association which was inuagurated in the state in 2023 is fully operational and has the mandate of ensuring the welfare of female lawyers.
She said, the forum has engaged with various stakeholders and institutions to raise awareness of their activities inorder to gain support. She explained that
NBAWF has series of programmes geared towards increasing the impact and visibility of Female lawyers in the state.
She noted that the Forum since its inception has hosted a mentorship program with the National body of the Association led by Barr. Mrs Chinyere Okorocha which was aimed at boosting the career and legal practice of its members.
According to her, the Association in a bid to enhance the lives of the female practitioners organised a fitness and free medical outreach for its members amongst other activities.
while announcing the upcoming health week which will kick off in June, she extended an invitation to the Deputy governor for the event and explained that the health week which comprises cervical cancer screening exercise is geared towards enhancing the health care of the female lawyers which is paramount
She further solicited for the support of the Deputy Governor in their areas of need such as the equipping of a crèche at the state High court, Financial support for welfare and capacity building training including attending National programs of the profession and acquisition of a bus to facilitate their movement and intervention across the state.
The deputy governor in her response thanked the Association lauded for their efforts, while assuring them of her support to the activities of the Association.
She applauded them for their impact so far in the state in enhancing the lives of female practising lawyers.
She disclosed that the state governor, His excellency Senator Hope Uzodinma and the wife, Barr. Chioma Uzodimma have the interest of Female lawyers at heart and would not hesitate to support them in their capacity.
Highpoint of the visit was the decoration of the deputy governor with a pink broach which forms part of the dress code of the association.
