NANS South East- Zone F Pays Courtesy Call To FEDPOLYNEK Rector ||| NEWS CORNER
Monday, 10th Feb. 2025 witnessed a massive presence of the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS), Zone F in South East ably led by Miss Alfred, Jacinta Chinedu, the Zonal Secretary. The Rector who was on ground with her Management Team received the visiting National Students body.
The Zonal Secretary Congratulated the Rector on her appointment as the 9th Substantive Rector and her 100 days in office milestones and celebration. She identified with the administration of the Rector of Grace and expressed her joy that a worthy woman is overseeing the affairs of FedPolyNek. She saw the Rector’s emergence as a new dawn and a change of narrative on quality leadership appointments by the Federal Government.

Alfred Jacinta Chinedu maximized the courtesy visit to present few pleas to the Rector on student related issues. She requested that the FedPolyNek’s SUG President be granted a means of mobility to ease movement for the 001 and give credence to the office as well as the Institution. The occassion of the National Convention of NANS coming up on 23rd -28th Feb, 2025 in Abuja was presented by the Zonal Secretary for Rector’s support to FedPolyNek’s delegation. Also she posited that the JCC Convention billed to be hosted in FedPolyNek next week will be free and fair. Her office solicited for the Rector to provide a conducive environment as well as give all necessary support for a successful hosting. She further requested that the FedPolyNek’s SUG Capitation which is over due be looked into by the Rector to well position the standing of the Student Union in the NANS Zone F.
The Zonal Secretary summarized her briefing by championing few pet projects from her office geared towards impacting on Secondary Schools and requested the Rector to identify with it once the initiative is properly unveiled. To add further credence on all the deposits of the Comrade Alfred-led NANS delegation, Comrade Chukwuemeka Chikere, Chairman, Imo NANS Stakeholders sincerely appreciated the privilege granted to NANS to visit the Rector. Chikere summed that FedPolyNek SUG Leadership remains the only source which NANS can operate in this community and no student body in NANS Organogram have such right to interface on student related issues without getting the appropriate clearance.

In her response, the Rector thanked the NANS body for deeming it fit to visit her in so short a time. The Rector reported a group that claimed that they were working for NANS whom she didn’t see in the courtesy visit even after their several unending disturbing calls, numerous letters and allegations. Dr. Mrs. Basilia Igbokwe took time to explain that the Institution last increased School fees in 2021 even with the harsh economy that should had necessitated an increment. She explained that any increment were on services rendered in Admissions and Administrative charges.The former Bursar was on ground with the Deputy Rector Academics and Admins to collaborate the Rector’s explanation.

The Rector further expressed her shock that the NANS group that claimed Students are not mobilized by NYSC and accused her administration of doing nothing, failed to honour the appointment for this meeting. She questioned the rationale of such a group writing unsolicited letters which FedPolyNek’s SUG didn’t request. She queried why this group didn’t get their information right and instead resorted to making threats of blocking the Naze no.1 Junction to create wrong media news. The Chief Executive reiterated the total failure of the said group in appreciating the achievements of the current administration. Even the mentioned Students Hostel that had received total renovation with internet facilities came up in their grievance showing a complete disconnect with true realities in the campus.
Dr. Mrs. Basilia Igbokwe refused to be dragged into NANS factions if such exists but pledged to always run an open door policy to the Student bodies. However, her office insists that if need arises for another appointment with the NANS group, the Zone F NANS Leadership will be invited for further engagement to explain which NANS position they are speaking of. She commended the NANS Zone F leadership for promptly coming for this courtesy visit to abreast themselves with the true position of things in FedPolyNek.
On the numerated pleas by the Zonal Secretary, the Rector promised that the Management Team will review it and revert to them in due course.

The Dean, Students Affairs Division, Dr. Paul Saint Christopher who joined the FedPolyNek’s SUG President to lead the NANS group for the courtesy visit thanked the Rector for accepting to meet the Delegation. He averred that no Student body even NANS can enter the FedPolyNek Community without reaching out to the Student Affairs Division headed by him. The Dean reiterated that the SUG President with his Excos are ably on ground working to ensure a peaceful academic environment.
