Glitz, Glamour as UAES Holds 3rd Matriculation Ceremony …Varsity VC Extolled on Giant Strides

It was all joyful moment and nothing short of glitz and glamour at the 3rd Matriculation ceremony on March 16, 2023 as the fresh students of University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, UAES, Umuagwo, Imo state alongside their parents could not hold back their overwhelming joy for (their children) gaining admission into the prestigious varsity.

The highly powered event attracted the presence of the Executive Governor of Imo state who doubled as visitor to the University, Senator Hope Uzodimma, and Deputy Lady Ekomaru Chinyere alongside colleagues, parents friends and well wishers from all walks of life.

The freshers welcoming ceremony had Four Hundred and Seventy-One students inducted into Five Faculties of the varsity which includes Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Science and Computing, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Faculty of Art, Social and Management Sciences.

Addressing the matriculated students at the university’s main Auditorium, the Acting Vice Chancellor of UAES, Prof. Christopher C. Eze advised the students to lead exemplary lives; build good characters as well as learning habits so as to be best in the market place, noting that the varsity is geared towards training and graduating entrepreneurs, skilled work force and employers of labour.

“My dear freshmen, Character development of our students is a desideratum, It is our desire that at your graduation, you would be the best in the market place. This is because we are geared towards training and graduating entrepreneurs, skilled work force and employers of labour. Our programmes are such that if you are here for any
programme, you must have excellent experience on hands-on- tools in Agriculture and Environmental studies outside
your majors”

“Our interest is that when you graduate from here, you will contribute meaningfully to developmental discourses across the globe and in fields different from the certificate you are carrying”

“To achieve the above, my beloved matriculants, you must embrace self-discipline, self-care, decent modes
of dressing, faithfulness to your studies and general comportment within and outside the campus. Your carriage within and outside the campus should sell you and open doors for you. We want you to always be a good ambassador
of UAES”

Prof Eze further charged them to be up and doing with their educational engagements while embodying the spirit of effective time management on a daily basis in order to reduce stress and as well maximize production.

“In your stay here, you are advised to embody the spirit of effective time management and on daily basis
weigh your productivity”

“Effective time management will aid in balancing your study ethics with your personal life and hence promote your well-being. Reduce stress through excellent time management. Ensure that you improve on the quality of your reading habit”

“My dear children, to improve your time management, you must prioritize your tasks on campus, create a schedule/timetable to guide your activities and avoid distractions that can waste your tine and reduce your daily reading/study outcome”, Prof Eze stressed.

The

reverred Varsity Vice Chancellor who seized the opportunity to immensely commend Governor Uzodimma for his developmental strides and support to the institution especially the 50% tuition fee slash for students studying Only Agriculture in the institution, disclosed a good number of both national and international partnership which have placed the varsity on a global map, adding that efforts are on ground to keep improving to meet up with international best practices hence urged the students to shun all social vices while calling on parents and guardians to always monitor their children’s study progress and the type of company they keep.

UAES has zero tolerance for any form of misconduet, including examination malpractieces, cultism, unruly and violent behavior, keeping late night outside the campus, prostitution, internet fraud, armed robbery, drug addiction, kidnapping, stealing, hooliganism: willful. destrucion of the University property;
drunkenness, gambling, cohabitation, indecent dressing. among othérs and we ill not hesiate hesitate to sanction any
misdemeanor. Do not engage in anything that will bring regrets at your lattèr life”

“We further implore you to show respect to your colleagues, ánd, staff in the University make your stay productive. Be modest and decent in your dressing and ápproacht to issues and adhere strictly to the rules and regulations enshrined in the Students Handbook”

Parents and guardians as well as other dignitaries who graced the event extolled the acting Vice Chancellor,  Prof Eze for his impactful strides in the institution,  noting that it is indeed a “place of Knowledge, Innovation and Excellence” as the motto have it.

The highlight of the occasion was the procession of matriculants, academic and nonacademic staff as well as the Vice Chancellor’s procession into the varsity’s main Auditorium, presentation of matriculation students, the students oath taking and subsequent admission into the membership of the institution accompanied with mime by year one students, photo shoots and merriment from all and sundry.
