One of the leading inclusive schools in Nigeria, Ephphatha Academy, Owerri, Imo state on Saturday, 11th of July, 2026 celebrated her graduation, speech and prize giving ceremony amidst pomp and pageantry.
The grand ceremony which was held in Owerri became a showcase of fantastic recitations, cultural displays, meaningful dramas, songs, and the National anthem sung in German, that were performed by the learners of the Academy in the presence of their teachers, parents, guardians and guests.

Rights of a child, Sustainable Development Goals, Different learning disabilities, challenges of teen years, mental health awareness and social media impact on teenagers were some of the presentations of the day. Of particular note was the brilliant presentation by the learners with learning disabilities, who are taught with an individualised education plan, showing that no child should be left behind.
The revered Academy comprises Nursery, Primary and High Schools and has been widely noted to engage in developing and training the learners into brilliance.

The learners who excelled in the various categories received prizes as ‘star learners’ of their classes and ‘best behaved learners’.

Mrs Akwaugo Nsofor, the proprietress of Ephaphata Academy.
The Director of Studies of the Academy, Mrs Akwaugo Nsofor, in her speech, made it clear that it was not a graduation ceremony for any other class but the Basic 6 class. The learners who excelled in one thing or another in their various classes as star learners and best behaved learners were given certificates of excellence and gifts.

In her remarks, the guest speaker, Mrs Dayo Ajibola, an ordained Assistant Pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God, disclosed that the Academy is a Ministry not run as a business venture and that God has His great plans for the learners.

Pastor Dayo expressed optimism that given the leadership qualities and human developmental capacity of the Director of Studies, Mrs Nsofor, she was confident that she would in future, establish and run a University.
She maintained that the faithfulness of God cannot be undermined calling for the commitment of the learners to God for their protection and guidance.
The guest speaker highlighted that ‘character is key to the sustenance of the child’s intelligence’, citing Proverbs 1:10.

She advised that teachers, parents and guardians should not shy away from accepting correction from the children which she said would always boost effective communication in families and schools and that bringing the children in the way of the Lord would always be important so that they would not depart from the Lord.

The Academy, amidst her academic programmes, runs skill acquisition programmes where the learners are given trainings in various fields which range from Art work to carpentry and from bakery to ICT and to music.

The Director of Studies, Nsofor has continued to receive encomiums from the parents, guardians and guests for her significant works done in the school which have been proven by the character and learning on the side of the pupils and students and also on the discipline identified with the teachers.
Among those who graced the event include Prof. James Egere, the father of the proprietress, Dame Dora Egere and a host of other guests who came from far and near.
