In a bid to commemorate the 2026 international women’s day, the Ogechi and Sam Ikeh Foundation (OSAIF) and 12 Baskets Helping Hands Initiative (12HHI) have visited the female students of Correctional Service with donations of wrappers, sanitary pads and other toiletries.

Speaking to newsmen on Monday at the sideline of the custodial facility shortly after the visit, the Executive Director of OSAIF, Ogechi Ikeh who spoke on behalf of 12HHI on the annual International Women’s Day held every 8th March of every year noted ‘the event to mark the day was a charity visit to the female section of the Nigeria Correctional Services, Owerri station tagged ‘Dignity for Her’.

She said the visit was in collaboration with 12 Basket Helping Hands Initiative.
“The women-inmates in the correctional facility were celebrated, encouraged and prayed for”.

Ikeh hinted that part of the talks given to them were self-awareness, empowerment through skill acquisition, self hygiene and soul-uplifting talks were given by representatives of OSAIF and 12 Basket Helping Hands Initiative.
“The women-inmates were encouraged to be hopeful, kind to each other, obedient and keep up with all that womanhood stands for”.

The groups donated gifts and dignity items of sanitary pads, antiseptic soap, laundry detergent, Ankara wrapper, undergarments, basic toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, petroleum jelly) to all the women-inmates.
The dignity items were made possible by donations from well-meaning partners, donors and individuals.
