Ambrose Nwaogwugwu: PDP Accuses APC Govt of Political Intolerance …Says Members Now Endangered Specie
The Peoples Democratic Party in Nigeria has accused the All Progressives Congress APC led Government of promoting political intolerance targeted to silence the opposition.
The Acting Publicity Secretary of PDP in Imo state, Ogubundu Nwadike in a press release made available to Journalists, insisted that APC is applying modern terrorism to stop the opposition from criticising their administration, pointing out that members of PDP are now endangered specie in Nigeria with reference to the recent development in Imo State.
According to the press release, ” PDP wish to use this medium to formally inform the relevant authorities of Government at all levels that Comrade Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, who was arrested on May 28, 2020 has not been allowed to see any lawyer and any member of his family for the entire seven days that he has been detained by the Directorate of State Security (DSS). This despite every effort and entreaties made by his lawyer, all efforts by the family members to see him has equally been rebuffed by DSS.”
“The situation has led to the exposure of the young man to vagaries of hunger and illness, since there are reportedly no evidence that he is being feed. Moreover he has been forced to wear the same clothes he was arrested in a weak ago.”
“We have heard from a reliable source that the DSS Director and operatives have been torturing Ambrose Nwaogwugwu with enough intimidations aimed at forcefully getting confessional statement from him. We have also heard that the DSS is coercing the PDP New Media D. G. to write an apology for fabrication and concoctions aimed at roping him with the aim of using same to convict him.”
“As it is now, in the absence of contact with Comrade Nwaogwugwu, coupled with reports from sources in the DSS offices, our Party now believe the information that all is not well with the continued detention of Comrade Nwaogwugwu by the DSS after the mandatory constitutional 48 hours allowed by law. We will remind you that the APC dictatorial tendencies in Nigeria has fouled international democratic best practices.”
Meanwhile, it will be recalled that a chieftain of PDP from Amuzi Dim Na Ume in Nwangele LGA of Imo state, Ichie Iwuanyanwu Ndubuisi between January 10th to 13th 2020, escaped two assassination attempts on his life following his position against the ruling of Supreme Court on Imo State Governorship election.
Ichie Iwuanyawu is said has gone into hiding following constant threats to his life by yet to be identified gunmen.
