More accolades trail Federal Poly Nekede Rector’s administrative exploits, as she bags Oko Poly’s iconic Ambassador Award
In yet another feather to her cap, yet under her one hundred days in office as the 9th Substantive Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, the performing Rector, Dr (Mrs) Basilia Nkem Igbokwe, has been decorated by her Alma mater with iconic Ambassador Alumni of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State.



The Award coming few days to the celebration of the Rector’s one hundred days since she assumed office as Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, has attracted lots of accolades from the Polytechnic community, as many in the School communities described the feat as a testament to the female Rector’s scintillating performance.
Though, the new Rector’s good works have been on the lips of members of the Federal Poly Nekede community viz, management, staff, students, the unionists, the host communities, among others, the latest endorsement now comes from outside the local communities, which is a pointer to many good testimonies of the Rector’s accomplishments within the short time she assumed duty as boss of the Federal Government tertiary institution in the State.


According to the National President and General Secretary of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State Alumni Association, Nze Henry Chukwuka Nnebe and Mr Kenechukwu Nwakenyi respectively, the Award bestowed on the Rector was in recognition of a loyal Alumnus of their Association, who embodies the ideals of Federal Polytechnic Oko’s academic standards and principles, according to the Alumni Association, her good works and achievements are bringing honour and prestige to both the Alumni and Alma mater.

Responding, while receiving the prestigious Award at Hilton Leisure Resort and Hotels, Awka, Anambra State,Dr (Mrs) Basilia Igbokwe ably represented by the Federal Polytechnic Nekede Orator, Dr Anayo Uhiara who also is the Dean, School of General Studies (SGS), postulated on the impact Oko Polytechnic had in her Administrative prowess having studied Public Administration (PA).
She appreciated the organizers for deeming her deserving of such prestigious award.

The Rector through Dr Uhiara identified with the developmental strides of the Alumni Association and pledged to continue supporting her alma mater whenever called upon.

As it were, the recognition is said to underscore Dr Igbokwe’s exceptional strides in repositioning the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri and further cements her reputation as a trailblazing administrator.
It will be recalled that the Nekede Federal Polytechnic Owerri Rector, Dr (Mrs) Basilia lgbokwe had bagged the Award at the 2nd lbrahim Badamosi Babangida (lBB) Annual Lecture Series (Alumni Award 2024), Friday, December 13, 2024, organized by Federal Polytechnic, (Oko FedPOko) Alumni Association, which hinged on the theme:, Challenges and Crises in Polytechnic Administration in Nigeria: the interplay of Supervisory bodies, Governing Council, Management and Alumni, delivered by a keynote presenter, a former Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Oko and Ex-Vice Chancellor Paul University, Awka, Prof Ugochukwu Nzewi, where he distinctively identified Presidency, Federal Ministry of Education and National Board on Technical Education (NBTE) as critical contributors to the challenges and Crises in the administration of the Polytechnics in the country.

Recall, also, that the Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Owerri, Dr Basilia lgbokwe, an Alumnus of Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State, earned herself the Alumni prestigious Award, having satisfied the Association’s requirements which stipulated CREATIVITY and SERVICE, as the ‘MOTTO’ of the Award recipient’s Alma mater, Federal Polytechnic, Oko which Dr Igbokwe embodies as the head of a prestigious tertiary institution in the country.
