Imo YPP Leaders, Members Resign As Crisis Rocks Party
ThankGod Emeh…
The leaders and members of the Young Progressives Party, YPP Imo state chapter have resigned their positions and membership from the party following internal crisis rocking the party as regards the forthcoming governorship election of November 11, 2023.
Addressing newsmen in Owerri on Thurdsday September 21, 2023; the former State Chairman of the party, Hon. Victor Diala who stated that the resignations cut across the 305 political wards in the state, stressed that the firm belief of the state leadership and members on the “party’s ideology and core belief of a new era of leadership” among others have long being bastardized and jeopardized hence the recent development.
Hon. Diala noted that the “self-account leaders at Abuja have never lived up to the billing of the party’s ideology”, adding that the National leadership of YPP have
merchandise the party for their selfish reasons instead of practicing what they preach.
He decried the double standard of the YPP National leadership while disclosing that the main crux of the recent development in Imo YPP is the alleged discovery of the party’s guber candidate, Dr. Kemdi Opara as a mole planted by the incumbent governor of the state, Governor Hope Uzodimma to distract Imo people.
The former party headman added that the National leadership has
used Imo State YPP in the same light Since 2017 to date, “where they tread with the party, with the government in power over and
above the interest of their followers”
Fielding questions bordering on his said suspension from the party, and making rounds in the media, the former Chairman argued that he was not suspended; having not received any Suspension Notice from the National leader as circulated.
“A situation where the National Executives said that have suspended a Congress elected Chairman online and without due process is laughable and thanks and void”
Hon. Victor Diala however informed teeming members of the party, party leaders across the state, political family, and general public to remain resilient as they make consultations on the next political move and way to go.
“Since the inception of Young Progressives Party, as founding members, we have the firm believe on our ideology, being in mind on our core belief of a new era of leadership”
“A transformation led by intellectually sharp, mentally progressive and tirelessly
innovative minds of the younger generation. With a vision of seeing Nigeria rise true potential assuming its rightrul role as a leader on African continent and beyond. Leadership driven by integrity, empathy, and commitment to the greater good rather than by self-interest or greed, a revolution that recognized the power of collaboration, inclusively and forward-thinking to reshape our nation’s trajectory”
“It was this ideology we have believing and hoping that one day, we will get right, unfortunately, and to our greatest surprise, we discovered that our self-account leaders at Abuja have never lived up to the billing of our ideology. They have chosen to merchandise the party for their self-interest instead of practicing what they preach”
“A situation where they tread with the party with the government in power over and above the interest of their followers. In the state, we were given somebody who pretends to be contesting for governorship whereas he is indirectly working for the
incumbent’s second term with the National leadership of the party”
“In any political equation, someone is being used, and if you look around and you can’t
find any person, you are the one. So it is on record that the National leadership has used Imo State YPP Since 2017 to date”
“It is on this note that we the entire Executives and the three hundred and five wards of YPP resigned our membership from the Young Progressives Party Imo State”
“We seize this opportunity to inform our growing, loyal committed members of our Political family and friends within and outside Imo state that our political move will be
made known after due consuitation”
