Imo Council Election: Onyiriuka Emerges PDP Candidate, Says He I’ll Boost Infrastructure, Agriculture If Elected Ohaji/Egbema Chairman
A selfless human and development driven politician, Engr. Stanley Onyiriuka, has emerged as the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for Ohaji/Egbema LG Executive Chairmanship in the September 21st 2024 Imo Council Elections.
Onyiriuka emerged via a Consensus Primaries unanimously and democratically affirmed by all the Wards in the LGA with ISIEC Official being present to witness the exercise which was adjudged as fair and peaceful. The Primary Election took place at Ohaji/Egbema Collation Centre on Tuesday.
Onyiriuka who expressed delight and gratitude for being chosen as PDP candidate in the Imo Council Poll, assured to improve infrastructure, such as electricity, road, as well as education, agriculture, security, empower youths and women on relevant skills, among other goodies, to help the locals assuage hardship, poverty and vulnerability if elected.
Onyiriuka, an indigene of Assa, affirmed that his primary focus is on road, electricity, agriculture, security, youth/women empowerment, saying allocations that will come directly to the coffers of the Council from FG shall be judiciously used to champion the course of the people who he said deserve good living.
He said he is a deeply rooted grassroot politico with vast political and leadership experiences, being the Councillor who represented Assa/Obile Ward in the Legislative Council, two times Secretary to Ohaji/ Egbema, Coordinator, Niger Delta Security Network, an enterprising entrepreneur, technocrat and vibrant youth and hence has the capacity to redefine governance in the rural areas.
“I have the necessary experience to give the people quality leadership and I know the nitty- gritty of Ohaji/Egbema Council. Now that there is major allocations from the federal government to the local government, I will focus on major things that the people need: Electricity, Road, Education, Agriculture, Security and Job Creation.

“Truly, if electricity is given primary concern – youths – others will be more productive. Solid roads attract investment, encourage buying and selling, socialization, promotes tourism. Quality Education is a key to success which will be made available and affordable to all children in the locality. Being into agribusiness, I will restore agriculture by providing tractors, other equipments, give soft loans to farmers, supply seedlings to them to enhance food sufficiency and food security in the area.
“As former Coordinator of Niger Delta Security Network, Ohaji/Egbema, we are going to train youths, equip them appropriately to enable them police the locality. Among other things that will be of immense advantage to the agrarian people of the oil rich region”.
“The people know all PDP candidates for the Council Elections – we appeal to them to choose them wisely through their votes, protect them and make sure they count so that credible persons will be elected to improve good governance and goodness therein”.
Earlier, Onyiriuka who was the candidate of SDP for Ohaji/Egbema State Constituency in the 2023 elections, has pledged total loyalty to leaders of PDP in Ohaji/ Egbema LGA.
Speaking, on behalf of all PDP contestants in Ohaji/Egbema during a party they organized in appreciation to the party leaders in the area for being supportive, held at Heroes Apartment, in Owerri, on Sunday, Onyiriuka described the leaders as loving, intelligent and people- oriented.
“On behalf of PDP contestants for the 21st September 2024 LG Poll, I thank PDP leaders for their solid support and effort to restore governance to the people. Your effort shows that the PDP is united and has people oriented ideologies. We will win the election because people are with PDP and are in dire need of positive change and better living”, Onyiriuka maintained.
