Imo Guber Turns War: Collation Ends Midway in Fight, Result Sheets destroyed

Collation of Imo guber election results at the INEC Collation centre along Port Harcourt Road, Owerri has abruptly come to an end over the destruction of result sheets by party agents.

The fight was ignited when a PDP agent, Barrister Uche Onyeaguocha refused that the result of Ideato South LGA should be announced .

Onyeaguocha alleged that supporters of Governor Rochas Okorocha had chased away party agents and wrote the result for their preferred candidate .

Consequently, other party agents who cited a similar occurrence at Mbaise LGA insisted that the result should be announced.

The state returning officer , Prof Francis Otunta, after consultation asked that the result in contention be announced .

But the PDP agents rushed to the table, seized and tore the result sheet.

In a swift reaction, a party agent of Action Alliance, AA rushed to the high table and tore result sheets of other LGAs that had earlier been collated.

The ugly development led to a free – for -all as people scampered for safety, while policemen arrested the two contending agents.
