Imo SDP Declares Membership Protocol for Intending Members
The State Working Committee (SWC) of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Imo State has mapped out protocols to usher in new members and position the party ahead of the 2027 polls across the country.
According to a press release signed by the Acting State Publicity Secretary of Imo SDP, Chief Comr, Vitalis Iwueze the SWC members on Thursday April 9, 2025 convened at the party’s secretariat in Owerri, where important directives was issued regarding the integration of new members into the party.
The State Party Chairman, Amb Ifeanyi Henry Eluwa addressed the 27 Local Government Area Chairmen, emphasizing the necessity for intending members to officially resign from their current political parties before joining the SDP.
Amb Eluwa reiterated the party’s commitment to fostering a robust political environment and strengthening the SDP’s foundational structures to advance the party’s vision and objectives.
“We welcome new members who share our vision and ideology, but they must adhere to the proper protocols by officially resigning from their previous affiliations.”
The meeting also declared that all registrations regarding membership of the party according to the National directives should be done at the State party Secretariat or will be regarded as invalid and warned against any form of gathering in the name of SDP in the state without prior knowledge of the leadership of the party.
Eluwa hinted that SDP is the only peaceful political party in nigeria without faction.
He also urged the LGA Chairmen to prepare for forthcoming visitations to all local government areas in the state.
According to him, the visitations aim to engage with party members, reinforce party structures, and enhance grassroots participation as the SDP continues to grow and evolve.
Amb Eluwa expressed gratitude for the support of the LGA Chairmen and reaffirmed his determination to move the party forward.

The 27 LGA Chairmen in the meeting passed vote of confidence on the state chairman, Amb. Dr Ifeanyi Eluwa, his executive, as well as the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party for their leadership quality.
