Imo: SA Local Govt, Chieftaincy Affairs, Okolieogwo advises Traditional Rulers to uphold Governor’s charge of being custodians of peace, culture
By Ikenna Orioha…

With a view to promoting peace and development in Imo communities, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Willie TC Okolieogwo, has advised Traditional Rulers to uphold the Governor’s charge of being custodians of peace, culture and tradition in their various domains.

Okolieogwo gave the advise in an interview with journalists shortly after the issuance of Staff of Office and Certificate of Recognition to Traditional Rulers by Governor Hope Uzodimma on Saturday at Sam Mbakwe Exco Chamber, Government House, Owerri.

The SA stressed that when the Traditional Rulers who are saddled with the mandate of ensuring security of life and property of their subjects shun greed, selfishness, hatred and segregation peace and development will be the hallmarks of their communities.

“The Ezes should get their Staff of Office, get home and get to work. His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma, had charged them to be worthy custodians of peace and development in their communities. And I know that they have no other option than to ensure that there is maximum security, synergy – working with the Town Union Presidents, the Youth, the LGA Chairmen and of course the Councillors.

“Various disagreements, quarrels and squabbles arising from lacking of the Traditional Stool is settled now with the issuance of the Staff of Office to Traditional Rulers by Governor Hope Uzodimma who values peace and prosperity”, Okolieogwo maintained.
While thanking the Governor for replacing dead Traditional Rulers and encouraging peace, progress and unity in Imo communities, Okolieogwo reminded the Ezes of being friendly and cordial to their subjects, just as they work solidly with government to strengthen development.
