IMO: Female Journalists Campaign Against Rape

Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, Imo State Chapter yesterday joined other women groups and organisations in the state to protest the incessant rape cases in the country, which she described as a menace.

The State Chairman Barr. Vivian Ottih, who was represented by the State Vice chairman Mrs Nnaji Dorothy stated this during the protest/stand against rape in the capital owerri.

According to the association, the protest started from Judiciary House and ended in the State Government House where  they were received  by the wife of the State Governor.

“The protest started from Judiciary House and ended in the State Government House where we were received  by the wife of the Governor Barr. Mrs Chioma Uzodinma who was represented by the Commissioner for Gender and Vulnerable group Mrs Nkechi Ngwu.

Mrs Uzodinma stated that ” in affirmation, Imo  women have said no to rape”.

The various group that took part in the protest are Nigeria Association of women Journalists (NAWOJ), Imo State Committee on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (ISCEVAWG), International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Ladies for Senator Hope Uzodinma, Girls Guides Association Imo State, National  Council of Women Societies,  A  call to Serve. A Mission to Fulfill ( My Calling, Inc) and Ministry of Gender and Vulnerable Group.
