Imo Citizens UK Congratulates Uzodimma …seeks appointment of members
Ikenna Orioha, Owerri.
Imo Citizens UK, has congratulated Hope Uzodimma on his final confirmation as the Governor of Imo State via the dismissal of the last lawsuit brought before the Supreme Court by the former Governor, Mr Emeka Ihedioha, of PDP.
The group who congratulated the Governor through its President, Nze Chukwuma Obidike, Orji wuru – Obodo 1 Nkwerre, recently, in a statement made available to our reporter, said it has been “relieved that the legal imbroglio is now over and you can settle into your Office and unfold your plans for the people of Imo State and unhindered by distracting legal wrangles.
“While you are rolling up your sleeves in readiness for this gargantuan task, Imo Citizens Uk wishes to remind you not to make the same mistake the former Governor made by alienating the diasporas of Imo State in his appointments”.
The group stressed that “when Mr Ihedioha was in Office as Governor, we congratulated him, like we did to you earlier and exhorted him to appoint worthy Imo citizens in the diaspora to governmental positions since there are many of us scattered all over the world with expert skills and deep knowledge.
Apart from appointing Mr Amadikwa, he largely ignored us and instead, unrealistically urged us to bring foreign companies to come and invest in Imo through carrying out capital projects”.
Thus, “once again, we are now writing to you not to follow Ihedioha’s steps. The diasporans have highly skilled professionals who can bring about huge transformation in the State through their skill knowledge and network. It is unrealistic that we will all live in the State, but it is expected that we should contribute to the well-being of our people”.
“We, the diasporans, remit billions of naira to families, friends and even strangers in Imo State annually through our sweat and earnings. We will like to partake also in the practical transformation of our State through our experience and skills. We implore you not to deny us this ample opportunity as it will be a waste that we will retire from our work without our people enjoying the knowledge we have acquired from the more prosperous economies”.
“We expect you to reach out to the diasporans through our various organizations, of which Imo Citizens UK is one of them and evaluate capable diasporans for various government appointments”.
The group highlights that, “this is an appeal to reason and based on an entitlement which we, as citizens of the State, expect of our Governor. Our motivation is the fervent desire to see the transformation of our State, irrelevant of affiliation or party. Because we are non-partisan as we are a watchdog for excellent governance in Imo State”.
Joining their voices, the Secretary of the group, Dr J. Ofoegbu, Barr Chibuzo Ubochi, Patron, Barr Chudi Uzoma, Patron, Barr Leo Offorji, Patron, Eziada Chichi Oburota, Woman Leader/ Treasurer and Chief Uche Oshigwe, wished the Governor well as he discharges his constitutionally assigned duties and expect him to heed their call and give them a sense of belonging by adding their members into his cabinet.
Reiterating that they are capable and are ready to contribute to the growth of Imo society.
