Imo BIR, VIOs embark on full force inspection

The State Board of Internal Revenue says with effect from Friday this week vehicles inspection officers, VIOs and their assistants will start impounding vehicles, tricycles and motorcycles with fake number plates and papers.

A release to this effect urges motorists, tricycle and motorcycle operators in the State whose number plates and papers are not genuine to visit the State licensing office, Okigwe Road, Owerri to obtain genuine ones.

The release says vehicle inspection officers will use Electronic Inspector Device to ascertain the authenticity of the number plates and papers, adding that defaulters will be fined in line with the Imo State Revenue Law.

Meanwhile, market Union Executives Artisan Union Leaders in the State and the Revenue Staff of the Ministry of Non-formal Sector and Market Development will hold a one day revenue stakeholders meeting with the Chairman of the Board on Friday this week at the Nicks Banquet Hall, Government House, Owerri by ten in the morning.
