NUJ Zone VP Adiuku celebrates Muslims on Eid, calls for peace, unity ||| NEWS CORNER
The Vice President of Zone C of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Ezenwa Adiuku, has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim faithful across Nigeria’s South East as they celebrate Eid el Fitr, calling for renewed commitment to peace, unity and national cohesion.
In a goodwill message released on Thursday, Adiuku congratulated the Muslim community on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, describing the period as one of deep spiritual reflection, sacrifice and devotion. He noted that the values of discipline, compassion and selflessness exemplified during Ramadan should be sustained beyond the festivities.
Adiuku, who serves as the NUJ Vice President for the South East, emphasised the need for religious harmony in a diverse society such as Nigeria. He urged Muslims and adherents of other faiths in the region to continue to coexist peacefully and support one another in building a stable and progressive society.
He further called on leaders at all levels to use the occasion of Eid to promote messages of tolerance and inclusiveness, stressing that unity remains critical to overcoming the nation’s socio economic and security challenges. According to him, the media also has a responsibility to promote narratives that foster understanding and national integration.
The NUJ chieftain wished the Muslim faithful a joyful celebration and prayed for continued peace and prosperity in the South East and Nigeria at large. He reaffirmed the commitment of the union to uphold professionalism and support initiatives that promote national unity and development.
