Federal Poly Nekede Inaugurates Students’ Press, “The Voice” Newspaper

Every 4th of October, the world come together to celebrate the Journalistic profession.
Today, the Students Union Government of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri gathered some dignitaries from far and wide to commemorate the great event in style, as the institution’s Director of publicity, Comrade Chima Uchehara inaugurates aspiring young Journalists identified as ‘Premier Press’ into the Student Press team of the institution.
In an opening remark, the President of Mass Communication Department in the institution, Comrade Philip Nwankwo who encouraged the aspiring journalists to be hard working so as to stand out from the crowd, stressed that to whom much is given, much is expected of.

Comrade Nwankwo acknowledged the immense contributions of Comrade Uchehara for achieving the feat as the Most Digitally Advanced SUG Director of Publicity having piloted the publicity credibly in the institution hence the event.
Administering the oath of office to the editorial board and members of the student press, a veteran journalist and the Special Adviser to the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Chief Fidel Onyeneke said the pen profession is a serious business that needs serious minds to inform, educate and transform society.

“What we are doing is a very serious business because the business of publishing, information dessimination is something that is very sacrosanct, and not only that, it is something that calls for seriousness and dedication. You can only perform well with and by the grace of God”.

The Head of Mass communication department of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Mrs. Shebba Gabson urged the students to remain steadfast and never stop craving to be the best at what they do.
Speaking at the event, the publisher of News-Point Newspaper, Dr. Lambert Ojukwu expressed happiness over the premier publication of ’The Voice’ newspaper by the student press while admonishing them to always seek for improvement.
In appreciation, the SUG Director of Publicity, Comrade Prince Chima Uchehara thanked the guest speakers and participants of the event noting that “The Voice” project is a dream come true.

The event was graced by the presence of the Special Adviser to the Rector, Federal Plytechnic Nekede on media matters, Chief Fidel Onyeneke, the Public Relations Officer and Patron of Premier Press, Mr. E.B Nwosu, the SUG president and President elect, alongside other school officials.
