EWAMAC Seals Kilimanjaro Fast Food Mall Amakohia/Orlu road Owerri for Environmental Violation
The Eastern Waste Management Company (EWAMAC), in conjunction with the Imo State Ministry of Environment, has sealed off the Kilimanjaro Fast Food Mall located at Amakohia/Orlu Road, Owerri, for allegedly discharging sewage waste into public road drainage channels.

The enforcement action, which took place over the weekend, followed routine monitoring by the agency’s compliance team. According to EWAMAC, the act constituted a clear violation of environmental safety regulations and posed serious health risks to residents and road users within the area.
The General Manager of EWAMAC, Hon. Ugochukwu Aghazie, who confirmed the development, said the company, working closely with the Ministry of Environment, has concluded plans to prosecute the management of the facility on Monday, September 29, 2025, for contravening laid-down environmental laws.

He emphasized that the joint enforcement demonstrates government’s seriousness in ensuring that public health and environmental standards are upheld across the state.
“This serves as a warning to all business operators and residents. EWAMAC, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, is fully committed to ensuring that Imo State maintains high standards of cleanliness, proper waste disposal, and environmental safety. No offender will be spared,” Hon. Aghazie stated.
He further urged residents to cooperate with the agency by adopting proper waste management practices and reporting cases of indiscriminate dumping or discharge to the authorities.
With this action, EWAMAC and the Ministry of Environment reiterated their determination to enforce compliance and safeguard the environment as part of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s broader vision of a cleaner and healthier Imo State.
