Shekinah British International School Sets Pace in ICT-Driven Education — Imo Assembly Clerk
The Clerk of the Imo State House of Assembly, Mrs. Chinelo Emeghara, has commended Shekinah British International School (SBIS), Ihiagwa, for its commitment to technology-driven education, describing the institution as a model for quality learning and innovation in Nigeria’s education sector.

Mrs. Emeghara spoke during the school’s 2025/2026 Graduation, Speech and Prize-Giving Ceremony, where students were honoured for outstanding academic performance, exemplary character, leadership qualities and vocational skills, while guests were entertained with colourful dance performances by the school’s dance troupe.

The Assembly Clerk, whose daughter is a student of the institution, said the school’s secure and conducive learning environment, coupled with its investment in technology, distinguishes it from many others, recalling that one of the factors that strengthened her confidence in the school was the fully computerised entrance examination conducted when her daughter sought admission.
She urged schools across the country to embrace Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as an integral part of teaching and learning to prepare students for the future.

“Everybody is going IT now, so I think every school should invest in getting good teachers that will make sure the children are well versed in IT skills. This school is doing very well because even the entrance examination was conducted in a fully computerized environment.”

Mrs. Emeghara also underscored the importance of security in education, stressing that children can only maximise their potential in a safe and conducive environment.
“Around this state, we hear about insecurity and everything, so it is very important that where children are learning is secure. The environment should be secure, and generally, the place where they study should also be conducive.”
She commended the management of Shekinah British International School for sustaining high standards in teaching and learning, noting that the quality of its teachers and the outstanding performance of its students in external examinations are clear evidence of the school’s commitment to excellence.

“Other than the traditional subjects, schools should make sure students have IT skills because that is what is in now.”

Mrs. Emeghara congratulated the graduating students and called on governments, school proprietors and other stakeholders to invest more in technology, teacher development and school security to produce graduates who are equipped to compete successfully in an increasingly digital and global society.
