DPR Takes Campaign on Safe Distribution, Utilisation of Petroleum Products to Marketers, Dealers in Imo
The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) Imo office on Friday, November 25, 2020 visited some filling/gas stations in the state to create awareness and monitor compliance to its rules and regulations on sale, distribution of petroleum products and safety environment.

Mrs Roseline Wilkie, the Zonal Controller DPR, Owerri, who visited the petroleum and gas stations with her operations team urged the managers of the stations to ensure they observe environment safety rules while carrying out their businesses.
She said there was need for the station managers to continue to encourage their customers to always off their cell phones and car engines while buying products as well as observe other safety rules.
She urged Imo residents to observe safety rules while handling petroleum products and listed some of the rules to include: non use of hand sets on filling stations, non keeping of petrol in jerrycans inside their houses and non smoking of cigar or use of candles near petrol
Others are to always off their motor and generators while buying or pouring fuel, to buy petrol in good filling stations, quide against scooping petrol from fallen tanker, not to burn dirty or bush near filling stations, and never to exchange can for fuel for that of kerosene as well as to report unwholesom practise of any filling station.
The controller also warned gas users to change any leaking gas valve or hose, not to use water to quench fire caused by gas, keep their cylinders in a well ventilated area, buy gas in correct places, and to call experts in case of any complaint on the gas and fire service in case a fire refuses to go out on time.
The managers of the filling stations and gas plants visited thanked the DPR for the monitoring and oversight function.
Mr John Jenka, Manager of A.A. Rano Nig. Ltd. and Mr Chigbo Chukuma Managinv Director of Regime Cooking (Gas Plant) Filling Station along Onitsha Road, commended DPR officials for the visit meant to keep them on their toes and carry their services to the people well.
They promised onbehalf of other stations to comply to the safety rules and regulations of DPR in the state.
