Correspondents’ Chapel of Imo NUJ Raises Alarm On Impesornators

The Correspondents’ Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Imo State Council said its attention had been drawn to acts of impersonation by some people claiming to be journalists in the state who defraud the public in the name of the chapel at events.

The Chapel made clear in a press release issued by the Chairman,Chris Njoku and Secretary, Ugonne Uzoma that the group of fraudsters are neither employees of the media firms they claim nor members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of Imo NUJ.

“The attention of the Correspondents’ Chapel has been drawn to the activities of some group of people masquerading as journalists and going about impersonating correspondents of some National newspapers in a bid to defraud members of the public”

“We warn that this group of fraudsters are neither employees of the organizations they claimed nor members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of Imo Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ)”

The Correspondents’ Chapel advises the general public to scrutinize them properly; request their ID Cards as well as call the leadership of the Correspondents’ Chapel.

“We advise here that when such people approach you, please request to see their Identity cards or call the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel or the secretary on the following numbers to confirm their claims: Chris Njoku- Chairman 08133446781 or Ugonne Uzoma- Secretary 08065838963”
