Comrade Destiny Akunesi Emerges Chairman of Starpost Express Chapel of Imo NUJ
Starpost Express Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists Imo State Council now has new leadership.

In the election held on Wednesday 19th April, 2023 at New NUJ Secretariat, New Owerri supervised by Treasure Ihechi Nwamah and Chinonso Alozie the Secretary and Assistant Secretary respectively of NUJ Imo state Council saw Comrade Destiny Udodiri Akunesi emerge as winner of Chairmanship election.
Dr Chris Okalotu emerged as Vice Chairman while Nneoma Opara won the Secretary position.
In her handover speech, the outgoing Chairman of Starpost Express Chapel; one of the most vibrant Chapels of NUJ Imo State Council and former Editor-in-Chief of Starpost Express newspaper, Amb. Chika Uju commended all the members of the Chapel for the support they gave her during her tenure.
The outspoken journalist and a great woman leader said she is happy that she contributed immensely in building the Chapel and encouraged the new executives to work as a team to take the Chapel to the next level.
In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman of the chapel, Comrade Destiny Akunesi thanked all the members for the confidence they have in him by electing him.

He promised to continue where Amb. Chika Uju, the outgoing Chairman stopped to make the Chapel the best in Imo NUJ.
In his remarks, Comrade Ifeanyi Nwanguma the Chairman NUJ Imo state Council and also a member of the Chapel congratulated the new executives and promised to support them where necessary.
He commended the outgoing Chairman Amb. Chika Uju for how she has led the Chapel so far and wished her well in her future endeavours.
The NUJ chairman promised to host the next meeting the Chapel will have under the new executives.
He commended them for being the first Chapel to conduct election after the directive given by the Council at the last NUJ Congress which he describes as free, fair and credible.
In his own remarks, Comrade Barthy Kalakiya, a stakeholder of the Chapel congratulated the new executives and described the new Chairman Comrade Destiny Akunesi as a man that has passion to serve and always committed. He wished the new executives well and promised to always give them his leadership advice.
The new Chairman of Starpost Express Chapel Comrade Destiny Udodiri Akunesi was the Secretary of the Chapel, currently the PRO of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Imo State chapter, 2nd Assistant National Secretary Old Boys Association Government Secondary school Owerri and Church Secretary Assemblies of God Church Orji 2.
He studied Mass Communication at Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu.
He has flair for writing, reading and giving to humanity.
