Chief Amuchie Authenticates His Position as Imo ADC Chairman….As he Gets Party’s backing against Prof Okoroma
ThankGod Emeh…
The leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Imo State Chapter, led by Chief Emmanuel Amuchie, has completely disowned the activities of Prof. James Okoroma and other individuals parading themselves as executives of the party in the state.
The party clarified that there is only one authentic State Executive Committee of the ADC in Imo State recognised by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and it is led by Chief Emmanuel Amuchie.
Addressing journalists during a press briefing at the party’s secretariat at MCC Road, Owerri, the State Chairman, Chief Emmanuel Amuchie, who displayed his INEC Certificate of Return as proof of his legitimate leadership, urged the general public to disregard all statements, publications, and activities emanating from the Okoroma-led group, stressing that they do not represent the ADC in Imo State in any capacity.
“The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Imo State Chapter, wishes to draw the attention of the general public to a series of misleading claims, false representations, and deliberate misinformation being circulated by a group led by Prof. Okoroma, falsely claiming to represent the leadership of the ADC in Imo State,” the statement read.
The party further stated that the ADC in Imo State remains one and united, with its State Executive Committee led by Chief Emmanuel Amuchie as the only organic, constitutionally constituted, legally valid, and officially recognized leadership of the party in the state.
According to the statement, the Amuchie-led executive emerged through a properly convened and duly conducted party process, carried out in strict compliance with the ADC Constitution, including provisions governing the structure, election, tenure, and recognition of State Executive Committees, noting that the process was also conducted in line with directives from the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.
Chief Amuchie emphasized that the claims by the Okoroma-led group lack constitutional backing and approval of the NWC, describing their actions as impersonation and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public, party members, and relevant institutions.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Amuchie-led State Executive Committee is the only leadership duly recognized and formally communicated to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in accordance with the Electoral Act, 2022 and INEC guidelines. Consequently, INEC recognizes only the Amuchie-led executive as the lawful leadership of the ADC in Imo State.”
The party warned that any attempt to sabotage the ADC would be firmly resisted through all lawful and institutional means, while appealing to the public and stakeholders to engage exclusively with the Amuchie-led executive on all party matters.
Reaffirming the party’s commitment to internal democracy, constitutionalism, and due process, the leadership expressed confidence that the ADC would produce the next Governor of Imo State, citing the party’s growing membership base and grassroots support.
“APC has tried, but we are coming to take over. ADC will produce the next Governor of Imo State.”
The party also commended the role of Owerri-born politician and international investment finance entrepreneur, Mr. Tony Ejiogu, for his contributions to the repositioning and strengthening of the ADC in Imo State.
Mr. Ejiogu, who was the 2023 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Imo State, was praised for providing strategic leadership, stakeholder coordination, and moral, financial, and organizational support that has boosted the party’s momentum across the state.
The African Democratic Congress, Imo State Chapter, reaffirmed its unity and resolve to provide credible leadership and a viable political alternative for the people of Imo State.
