Bishop Nwodu Inaugurates St. James Church Ejemekwuru

On Sunday, June 8, 2025, at  Umuebee Ejemekwuru in the Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, the newly constructed St. James Church of the Royal Episcopal Evangelical Communion was  inaugurated.

The air filled with anticipation and joy, as congregants gathered for a momentous occasion, the inauguration of their new place of worship.

Their heart raced for the arrival of the Rt. Rev. Bishop Festus Nwodu, whose presence was eagerly awaited.

As bishop Nwodu arrived, he acknowledging the faithful who had come to witness the birth of their church. The day held profound significance; it was also Pentecost, a day celebrated by Christians worldwide as the moment when the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles.

Bishop Nwodu who addressed the congregation, chose a powerful theme from Deuteronomy 1:8: “I have set the land before you,  go in and possess it.” Said

“Today, my brothers and sisters, marks not just the opening of St. James Church Ejemekwuru, but a divine activation,”

“The Holy Spirit is here among us. While the burdens of our past may tempt us to stand mute, today is a day of liberation, a day to shed chains and rise renewed. Feel the urge within you, for the time to call upon the name of the Lord is here. He is our strength, our refuge, and our deliverer.”

The congregation resonated with his powerful message as a wave of energy surged through them.

Speaking also, Rev. Ugochukwu Eluchie, the priest in charge of St. James Church Ejemekwuru,
expressed his deep gratitude to Bishop Nwodu for visiting after four years, saying

“Your presence here today has brought a wave of salvation and blessings,  it is a day of miracle for us. I thank God for allowing me to serve as the first priest of this church, and I pray He continues to bless Bishop Nwodu.”

Certainly, St. James Church had been more than merely constructed, it was a home for souls seeking refuge, salvation, and a deeper connection with God.

The Holy Spirit had indeed taken root, and the people of  Ejemekwuru were ready to possess the opportunities that lay before them, guided by faith and unity in their hearts.
