APC Natl Vice Chairman S’East Pays Courtesy Visit To Obi Of Onitsha …Harps APC Values Obi, Traditional Stools In Igbo Enclave
By Ikenna Orioha…
It was a show of high regard to Traditional Rulers and Traditional Institutions in Igbo Enclave as the National Vice Chairman of APC in South East, Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, paid a Courtesy Visit to Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, at his palace.
Arodiogbu who paid the Courtesy Call to the First Class Monarch over the weekend, described him as a man of excellent qualities and an intellectual giant.
It is on record that Arodiogbu since he assumed office as National Vice Chairman of APC in South East, had
consulted worthy Igbo leaders on ways forward for the region, saying his visit to the Paramount Traditional Ruler was germane given to the sterling role the Igwe plays in the development, peace and advancement of Igbo Land and Nigeria.
Arodiogbu submitted that APC is a party that respects Traditional Institutions, seeks advice on matters affecting their people within their domain.
According to the Imo State born pragmatic politician, humanist and medical doctor, “we have come here to associate ourselves with one of the finest Traditional Rulers in Igbo Land and given such pedigree as paraded by the Obi of Onitsha, we know that Igwe Achebe is a man of several exceptional qualities, qualities men like us would always love to associate with”.
He added that “in my consultation into Igbo Land to make the APC an acceptable party in the South East, we must consult the likes of Igwe Achebe owing to the strategic importance of his Throne and the good people of Onitsha. Igwe, let me state that the APC under my watch will always respect and consider Traditional Rulers as important storehouses of wisdom and would regularly seek out such priceless counsel at all given time. I must say that I am indeed awed by the level of intelligence and background knowledge of the Obi of Onitsha on various topical issues of Nigeria especially in the spheres of economy and security.”
While reiterating his firm commitment to adding to the political, social and economic advancement of South East and Nigeria, Arodiogbu wished Igwe Achebe good health, long life and peace within his domain.
Welcoming Arodiogbu and his team to his palace, Igwe Achebe thanked them heartily for visiting him, even as he wished them well.
Those who accompanied the National Vice Chairman of APC in South East on the August Visit included the Zonal Organizing Secretary, Dozie Ikedife, Senator who represented Anambra North, Emma Anosike and the Vice Chairman, Anambra APC North, Emma Ekwuaju.
