ALGON 2022 Set poised to help 3R Govt succeed –Chairman, Okolieogwo
By Ikenna Orioha
As 3R administration, being navigated by a visionary and pragmatic leader, Governor Hope Uzodinma, improves the economy, as well as advances development, the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) 2022 Set, Imo State, says it is firmly committed to help the government of the day succeed positively.
The group gave the assurance through its Chairman, Hon. Willie T.C Okolieogwo, while speaking to journalists, after a meeting penultimate Sunday, in Owerri, the State capital.

Okoliegwo who is also the SA to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, affirmed that the group is at home with the great works the government is doing in Imo State, hence the house thought it wise and germanely pleasing to come together to consolidate these gains already achieved.
While noting that the group has been part and parcel of the Shared Prosperity regime, Okolieogwo said the 2022 ALGON Set is a veritable part of Uzodinma’s political platform which he said played prominent role in the November 11 2023 Imo Guber Off-Cycle Poll as it delivered 27 over 27 ballots cast at the 27 Local Government Areas of Imo State for the APC Guber Candidate which clearly cemented His Excellency’s victory.

Okoliegwo, a patriotic Imo breed, fine politico and administrator of note, did not mince his words as he reiterated that they are ardent and core APC members from the 27 Local Government Areas of the State and would do everything humanly possible to ensure that the 3R government succeeds particularly as it concerns the 27 Local Government Councils.

According to him, “we are still holding fast our individual LG Council Structures as long as 3R regime is concerned. And we felt that for us coming together again is to elaborate that interest we have in the government, because His Excellency, Sen. Hope Uzodinma, CON, has done marvelously well and there is no other way to express that joy other than to put ourselves together to consolidate the gains already achieved by the government which we are part of from day one and we are still with the 3R administration.”
The Chairman observed that there exists a mutual and “wonderful understanding between those who were reelected as Council Chairmen and those who are not yet there. That bond is still there which was created since 2022.

“We have no other assignment other than to ensure that the government of the day is navigating to a positive end… Some appointees of government are part of us and some who are also looking forward for something good from the 3R government are part of us as well”.
Also stating that the 2022 ALGON Set reinvigorated to use the house as a platform of reaching out to themselves socially and politically, Okolieogwo praised the Governor for improving Infrastructure, Education, Health, Youth and Women Empowerment, Economic Revival and Security in the state, despite challenges arising from those he identified as enemies of progress, few cogs in the wheels of progress and meddlesome interlopers.

The group insisted that it would support who the Governor brings out to succeed him in 2027, urging Imo people to remain steadfast in lending credence to the 3R administration as it navigates and drives leadership in line with public interest and expectations.

Earlier in the meeting and to have a seamless drive of the vision, mission and the spirit of instituting the forum of Imo State ALGON, 2022 Set, Adm. Hon. Willie T.C Okolieogwo, from Oru West LGA (Orlu Zone), was unanimously appointed to be the State Chairman and Coordinator of the Forum, while Hon. Anthony Anakani, from Ahiazu Mbaise LGA (Owerri Zone), was unanimously appointed to be the State Secretary, while Barr. Uche Konkwo of Ihitte-Uboma LGA (Okigwe Zone), was unanimously appointed to be the State Publicity Secretary.
