2027: Why OZOPOLF should consider Chief Akagburuonye By Stanley Okehie

Chief Barrister Obioma Success Akagburuonye is renowned for his unwavering commitment to community development and youth empowerment in Imo State. As the founder and president of HopeRising for Imolites, a non-governmental organization established in 2003, Akagburuonye has been instrumental in implementing programmes that enhance education, healthcare and grassroots support across the State.

Akagburuonye’s journey from humble beginnings to a beacon of hope for many is a testament to his resilience and dedication. His personal experiences have deeply influenced his passion for uplifting his peaceful Ogbor-Uvuru community, driving him to utilize his blessings to benefit others.

Akagburuonye has launched various initiatives aimed at empowering the youth and supporting communities viz: Skills Training; Healthcare Initiatives; Advocacy and Awareness; and Community Support.

In September 2024, Chief Akagburuonye donated a borehole to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Imo State Council, enhancing access to clean water at their Secretariat in New Owerri. In recognition of his support, he was conferred with the title of Patron of the NUJ Imo State Council.

A former Chairman of NUJ, Imo State Council, Chief Fidel Onyeneke had while decorating Chief Akagburuonye, said he was eminently qualified for the Patron’s award. He added that Chief Akagburuonye had contributed immensely towards the development of society, even as his humanitarian gestures had been demonstrated in different sectors.

Further acknowledging his contributions to community development, Akagburuonye was, last year September, honored with the prestigious chieftaincy title “Akaraugo” by HRH Eze Phillip Uzodimma, the traditional ruler of Ozuh Omuma community in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State. This title reflects his radiant and pioneering spirit in fostering community advancement.

On November 3, 2024, Chief Akagburuonye hosted members of the Owerri Zone Political Leaders Forum (OZOPOLF) from Aboh Mbaise local government area, where he was appointed as their Patron. During this gathering, he expressed his commitment to supporting OZOPOLF’s mission to ensure that the next governor of Imo State emerges from the Owerri Zone in 2027, aligning with the promise of the performing governor of the State, Senator Hope Uzodimma.

Two weeks later, the state leadership of OZOPOLF visited Akagburuonye, during which he reiterated his willingness to back any candidate unanimously endorsed by the group. His steadfast support underscores his dedication to equitable political representation.

Akagburuonye’s professional journey is marked by notable accomplishments across various fields. As an engineer, lawyer, and real estate mogul, he has demonstrated exceptional proficiency and dedication. He stands as a beacon of excellence and philanthropy, making him a compelling candidate for the Governorship of Imo State in the 2027 elections.
