2023 Elections: Tambuwal Declares For Presidency
Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State has declared his intention to run for presidency in the forthcoming country’s general elction in 2023.
Addressing journalists after meeting with State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abuja, Governor Tambuwal said he considered the State Chairmen as grassroot mobilisers.
Governor Tambuwal noted that the PDP remains the hope of Nigerians while calling for unity among party members ahead of the general elections.
He added that the PDP is ready to take over power from the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Meanwhile, the Governor who is 56 had earlier advised Nigerians in a meeting with the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) who ‘endorsed’ his ambition in the 19 northern states against voting for any candidate older than 60 years in the 2023 presidential election.
“Young Nigerians are the owner(s) of the country, any person above 60 years is surviving to meet God Almighty – he is not surviving to lead a nation,” Mr Tambuwal said at the event.
“We need a president that is agile, who can travel across Nigeria in a day to get first hand information on issues bedeviling Nigerians, not a president who will sit in the comfort of his office awaiting censored information from people.”
