Umuanunu Community Honours Moses Odeghe with ‘Nwachinemere 1’ Chieftaincy Title ||| NEWS CORNER
Umuanunu community in Obinze, Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State, was agog on Saturday, 27th December, 2025, as Hon. Chief Moses Odeghe was formally conferred with the prestigious chieftaincy title of “Nwachinemere I of Umuanunu.”

The colourful and well-attended traditional ceremony took place at Divine Palace presided over by the traditional ruler of Umuanunu Obinze, His Royal Highness, Eze Geoffrey Ihejieto Ejimogu (JP), Anunu I of Umuanunu Obinze.

The chieftaincy conferment was in recognition of Hon. Chief Moses Odeghe’s outstanding contributions to community development, youth empowerment, peace-building and his consistent support for the progress and unity of Umuanunu and its environs.

Speaking during the ceremony, Eze Geoffrey Ihejieto Ejimogu (JP) described the honouree as a worthy ambassador of the community whose lifestyle, character and service to humanity he ssid justified the rare honour bestowed on him.
He charged him to see the title as a call to greater service, leadership and commitment to the customs and values of Umuanunu land.
In his response, Hon. Chief Moses Odeghe, expressed profound gratitude to the traditional ruler, the council of elders and the entire Umuanunu community for the honour.

He pledged to uphold the dignity of the title and continually work for the peace, unity and development of the community.
The event featured traditional dances, cultural displays, prayers and goodwill messages from community leaders, friends, associates and well-wishers from within and outside Imo State, making it a memorable celebration of culture, honour and service.
The conferment of the title Nwachinemere I of Umuanunu further reinforces the community’s tradition of recognising individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to communal growth and societal advancement.
