Ukwuinyi Women Union Nkwerre Marks ‘August Meeting’ in Grand Style

The virtuous women of Ukwuinyi village in Nnanano Autonomous Community, Nkwerre local government area, Imo State under the auspices of Ukwuinyi Women Union known as “Idi n’otu bu ike umu nwanyi” are not left out in the annual women ‘August meetings’ across Igbo land as they successfully marked the union’s Executive and General meetings amid peacebuilding initiatives and achievements for their local domains crowned with intermittent side attractions which included cutting of cake, rhythm dances and songs as well as familiarization amongst members.
The meeting held at the Ukwuinyi town hall had the atmosphere enveloped in jubilation and praises to God for gift of life as women adorned in their beautiful uniformed blouses and wrappers engraved with “Ukwuinyi Women Nkwerre -Opia Egbe” attended en mass to forge better ways forward for the community.


The women who through painstaking deliberations, reviews and proposals from all quarters in matters of interest stressed the need for harmonious living in the community void of rancour and misgivings about one another, stating that it is the reason for the season.


Leading the deliberations, the President General of Ukwuinyi Women Union, Ambassador Chika Uju urged the women to lead examplary lives in their families so as to raise Godly children who would in turn be worthy Ambassadors of the community across boards.

Amb. Uju charged the women to be mindful of their actions and inactions in all circumstance; especially in matters relating to land as well as family inheritance, noting that inordinate actions relating to traditions has grave consequences.
The women leader who further urged the women to keep up the good works and prayed God to strengthen them, seized the opportunity to intimate the women of the birth of her foundation; Uju Charity and Empowerment Initiative, UCEI, noting that the Foundation shall sponsor two indigent citizens from the area (Ukwuinyi, Nkwerre) and one each from other local government areas across the State from Nursery to Secondary School levels.

The leadership of the Union unanimously harped the need to practically uplift the Union in all ramifications by accommodating and looking out for one another as well as conducting themselves orderly at all functions at all times.

The women collectively resolved to stamp out all manner of gossip, quarrel, fight, as well as stealing, and conspiracy among other social vices with heavy penalties, fines and suspension where necessary.
Speaking at the 3-days programme, Ven. Elijah Dike and Rev. Kingsley Oguwike; both of the Anglican faith who spoke on the Themes “Wait Unto the Lord and Shun Evil” and “Be At Peace With One Another” respectively, enjoined the Ukwuinyi Women to lead lives worthy of emulation starting from their families as charity begins at home in order to raise good children, promote love, peace and unity in the society at large.
The clergymen however commended the women for their meeting agenda and resolutions to eliminate all hatred in their midst while praying God to always bless and strengthen them for greater exploits.
The event which was rounded up with a visit to the Motherless Babies Home, Orlu also attracted illustrious sons and daughters who graced the ceremony, and applauded the women for their immense contributions to the growth and development of the community, noting that “Ukwuinyi Women Union Nkwerre” have shown themselves approved in leadership, capacity and good conduct of affairs.
Addressing the women earlier, the President General of Ukwuinyi Men’s Wing, Sir Ken Nwaneri adviced the women to always be submissive to their husband in all things as “women are the bridge builders of every home”, adding that “no man can survive without the help of his wife”.


He however supported the women with cash donation just as Barr. Steve Asimobi, Nze GMT Maduagwu, Mr Emeka Ajomiwe, Chief/Lolo Ejike Mbarauguru, Elder Mrs Iheanyi Nathan, Dr. Emeka Chinaka, Mr/Mrs Eze Okparaocha, Mrs Ndidi Amadi, Chief Kofi Okparaocha, Mr Ugo Chinaka and host of others followed suit. The Women appreciated them and prayed that God replenishes their pockets.


The highlights of the annual get-together was the cutting of cake, photoshoots, Meet and Greet sessions, philanthropic gestures from the President General on behalf of her newly birthed Foundation; the Uju Charity and Empowerment Initiative, UCEI alongside other well meaning indigenes of the area as well as goodwill messages poured out to one another by the women.
