SSA on Networking to Imo Governor, Adanna Chantel Interfaces With Social Media Practitioners, Urges Objectivity

The SSA on Networking to Imo state Governor, Adanna Chantel has called on all media practitioners comprising journalists, bloggers, social media handlers, influencers, as well as opinion molders and radio callers in the state to play by the rules of professionalism which entails objective reporting and projection of the state in good light.

Miss Chantel Adanna Chinyere made the appeal in a familiarization meeting held at the City Chef Restaurant, Owerri, on Friday with mainstream and social media practitioners among whom are Chief Fidel Onyeneke, Chidiebube Okeoma, Darlington Ibekwe, Nokey Ebikam, Obinna Akuwudike, Pastor Chinedu Nnadi, Pastor Prince Ukwu and Chief Fidel Ahanonu.

She emphasized the need for media practitioners to have unity of purpose in projecting the state above politics by offering constructive criticisms where necessary adding that the Governor meant well for journalists hence he engages them friendly and fruitfully.

Speaking also Barrister Enyinnaya who is the Chief Political Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodinma appealed to media practitioners in the state to always report and market the state in good light as there are enough verifiable developments on ground, adding that objectivity is the way forward to right the wrongs done by sensational reports in the media.

Onuegbu added that the government has done well on road construction and should be commended and fully supported by the media and the entire citizens of the State for more enhanced democratic gains.

“Write about the truth you see about the 3R-led government. The government is not asking anybody to lie, but to see the realities of good governance on ground. The government belongs to us all and it needs the full support of the people to function more efficiently and effectively”, Onuegbu stressed.

Another appointee of the 3R led administration –the SA on Security, CP (rtd) Dan Okoro said Governor Hope Uzodimma is working assiduously to curtail insecurity in the state, urging journalists to always base their reporting on investigation and fairness to avoid misinformation.

A renowned media expert and former Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists in the state, Chief Fidel Onyeneke at the occasion commended the initiators of the gathering, noting that it is one of the best gatherings of all media practitioners in recent time.

Chief Onyeneke expressed thanks to the gentlemen of the media for honouring the occasion, while adding that no government succeeds without the media.

He urged journalists not to be partisan, and bias in their reportage whether on social media or the conventional media.

“I want to appeal that we apply all sense of professionalism in all we do… Imo is bigger than all of us, and our work is to direct the government constructively and as we do these, history will not forget us as God will continue to be on our side”

The media practitioners thanked the SSA on Networking, Adanna Chantel for making out time to interface with them and promised to work with her professionally while asking for continued interaction with the members of the media.
