So Sad!!! Popular Nollywood actor, Mr Ibu Dies at 62

Nollywood actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, is dead.

He was said to have died on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at about 5pm at the age of 62.

Recall in October 2023, the veteran actor was reported ill and required urgent financial assistance running in millions to go about his medical treatment.

But in November 2023, Okafor’s family confirmed that one of his legs had been amputated to keep him alive.

The actor according to reports passed away at Evercare Hospital in Lagos State after a protracted battle with diseased blood vessels and other health challenges posing a risk to his life.

The critical health challenges led to multiple surgeries that led to the amputation of his leg.

Confirming his death, the President of Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Emeka Rollas, posted a message on his Facebook page.

According to Rollas, “Sad day for Actors Guild of Nigeria.

“Kate Henshaw lost her mother earlier today and Mr Ibu suffered cardiac arrest according to his manager for 24 years, Mr Don Single Nwuzor.

“I announce with (a) deep sense of grief that Mr Ibu didn’t make it.”

Details surrounding his death are still expected. Also, Mr Ibu’s family and representatives have yet to comment publicly.

Meanwhile, celebrities and colleagues of the Nollywood veteran have mourned Mr. Ibu in various social media posts.

Mercy Johnson Okojie wrote, “It is well… Rest well sir…”

Ruth Kadiri wrote, “Sleep well Papa.”
