Sit-at-Home : AIG Zone 9 directs personnel to neutralise IPOB/ESN
The police officers in Imo state have been ordered by Assistant Inspector- General AIG Echeng Echeng in charge of Zone 9 to neutralize IPOB/ESN members who are enforcing the sit-at-home order.
AIG Echeng gave the directive during his familiarization visit to Imo command adding, that in order to combat terrorism, insurgency, and other criminal activities within the zone, the police would use a strict approach.
The Assistant Inspector General reiterated, that he will continuously ensure that they take the fight to those who do not want peace, stressing that there is nothing anybody can do without security.
Still speaking, he insisted that the economy will not be affected by a group of big miscreants who think they have control, as he enjoined the residents to go about their normal businesses, assuring, the readiness of his men to sustain peace and provide adequate security for the people of Imo, Abia, and Ebonyi states..
The AIG however, stated that the police would continue to partner with other security agencies in the state to ensure that those planning to enforce the sit-at-home order are surely dealt with adding, that “Imo people deserve better than what they are getting now, they deserve peace, adequate security, economic growth and stability.
Earlier, the state commissioner of police, Mr Mohammed Barde stated that the command had continued to battle IPOB/ESN with a view to bringing their activities to amend, stressing that they have been winning the battle so far.
Mr Barde equally, noted that the strategies adopted by the command has helped drastically to cut down violent crimes in the state to the barest minimum, adding, that he is delighted to inform Imo people that the general security of the state has improved.
